Length: 10 miles — Grade: Moderate
Weather: Overcast, occasional drizzle
Moderate 10 mile circular ramble, gradually ascending for the first five miles. At this point, the route descends into a dip, adjacent to Nant Cwm-tawel, passing a disused reservoir. It then ascends Allt Foel-fawr, via a steep, demanding climb through dense, deciduous forest, emerging into the Carmarthen golf club course.
Reduce the length and severity of the walk, by at least 3 miles, at grid reference SN 3849 2431, by turning right and away from (rather than left and towards) Newchurch village. Follow the road to Knightsford Farm and recommence with the mapped route. This variation omits the steep decline and incline between 5 and 7 miles.
